How to Create the Look: A Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these five steps to recreate Wednesday's iconic braided crown.

	Step 1: Prep with Mousse Start with dry hair. Work a golf ball-sized amount of styling mousse through your hair, from roots to ends. This will provide essential grip and texture, making your hair easier to braid and helping the style last longer.
	Step 2: Part You Hair Part your hair down the middle. If you don't have bangs, separate a few thin strands at the front on both sides to frame your face. Part your hair in the middle. If you currently don’t have bangs (and aren't planning to cut your locks just for this look), leave out a few strands on the front part of your hair.
	Step 3: Create Your Braids Behind these strands, take a two-inch section of hair on one side (from your temple to behind your ear) and create a classic three-strand braid. Secure it with a small elastic. Repeat on the other side
	Step 4: Form the Braided Crown Take the braid from one side and lay it across the crown of your head, tucking the end under the start of the opposite braid. Secure it firmly with bobby pins or U-pins. Do the same with the second braid, laying it behind the first one to create a layered, crown-like effect. Don't worry about it being perfect—a slightly undone look adds to the gothic charm. The face-framing pieces from Step 2 should remain loose.
	Step 5: Set the Style Once you are happy with the shape, give your entire head a generous misting of a strong-hold hairspray. This will tame any flyaways and ensure your braided crown and bun stay in place all night long, just like Wednesday's did at the Rave'N dance.
