If hair care is the lifeblood of HairMNL, then hairstylists are the soul. We couldn’t think to miss National Hairstylist Appreciation Day on April 30 without shining a spotlight on these Filipino hairdressers making waves in the salon seat. Check out these style inspirations from local stylists!

Celeste Tuviera

With over 22 years of experience, Celeste has worked with a wide range of A-list celebrities, such as Maine Mendoza, Bea Alonzo, Piolo Pascual, and many more. She is constantly inspired by the art of hairdressing and is fueled by the “psychological income” she gets whenever a happy client leaves her chair.

But while she has a star-studded client list, she has gone beyond just being every celebrities’ “go-to fairy godmother for hair ideas.” She has also created a YouTube channel called, “Celestified” where she shares inspirational stories from known personalities.

Eric Racuya

Eric has been in the hair business for about 20 years now, cutting hair part time from high school all through college and beyond. Hairstyling has always been in the blood for him, with his grandfather and uncles teaching him the way of the sheers.

For Eric, hair cutting is an art deserving of challenge, which is why he loves doing pixie cuts that can complement anyone’s face shape as well as doing hair color on clients. Finding his calling early has certainly paid off. He’s currently an in-house hairstylist at HairMNL Studio in The Vantage at Kapitolyo, creating an exciting body of hairstylist work that’s sure to inspire.

Nicole Santos

It’s a colorful world for Nicole Santos aka Your Hair Mama who specializes in color corrections, balayages, and Lived in Color or how she likes to call it, the “No Makeup, Makeup Hair.”

She is a licensed cosmetologist, having more than a decade of experience in USA, before moving here to Manila, where she has been doing hair for the last 5 years. Why the move? She says, “I was doing hair in Los Angeles and felt like there was no place for me in Manila… I was so wrong! Not only was there a need, but I am so thankful for the many beautiful people I have met on this hair journey in Manila.”

Her latest obsessions aside from 70’s trend trends are microlights and easy foilyages (mix of foil work, teased hair for blend, and balayage technique).

Marlon Lahaylahay

For Marlon, hairstyling is in his DNA. His humble beginnings carrying his grandmother’s curling tools to home services, started a fascination with hair. Today, he and his siblings are all hairstylists doing their part in making beautiful creations.

In the 10 years as a stylist, he jokingly says that “I’ve done it all, but I am always open and humble to learn new things.” For Marlon, he believes it’s time well-spent when doing a color  treatment, perm, or rebond looks as polished in real life as much as they do on Instagram.

Marlon currently works as an in-house stylist in HairMNL Studio.

Carlo Roblico

Style is everything to Carlo. With 5 years under his belt, this budding stylist loves to explore out-of-the-box ideas that expresses his artistry through hair.

He currently loves tight, sleek, and structured hairstyles that show high fashion styles and cites that one of his inspirations is Hunger Games’ Capitol fashion. You can check out his work featuring a mix of eclectic avant garde looks along with gorgeous, natural styles by following him on Instagram @carloroblico.

Russell Gonzaga

Even after a decade in the hairstyling business, Russell Gonzaga says that it gives him great joy to make his clients feel beautiful and confident. The smiles from his happy clients is what gives him inspiration and fuels him to keep creating beautiful works of hair art.

He knows that it’s all about the details in the hair, which is why he chose to specialize in air touch technique, balayage, micro highlights and hair color dimension.
