Gloss Absolu is the Kérastase line for one specific hair: long, prone to frizz, and dull when it should shine. Kérastase builds the whole range on three ingredients — hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and wild rose oil — and one idea it repeats across the line: shine is cleanliness plus care plus hair alignment. This guide takes the routine product by product, introduces the newest addition, the Hair Perfume Mist, and settles the confusion that brings most people here: no, it is not the same thing as the Chroma Absolu Gloss.
First: Which Kérastase “Gloss” Are You Looking For?
Two very different Kérastase products get called “the gloss,” and searching for one tends to land you on the other. Gloss Absolu is a full line — shampoo, conditioner, a leave-in glaze milk, glaze drops, and now a hair mist — for long hair prone to frizz. The Chroma Absolu Gloss is a single rinse-off treatment, formally Soin Acide Chroma Gloss, that resurfaces color-treated hair for shine; it belongs to the Chroma Absolu color-care line and our Chroma Absolu guide covers how to use it. And if your frizz comes from thick, coarse hair that swells in humidity rather than from long lengths losing their shine, that is Discipline Oléo-Relax territory, not a gloss at all — the Oléo-Relax vs Fluidealiste comparison sorts it out.
| The name | What it actually is | Built for |
|---|---|---|
| Gloss Absolu | A five-product shine-and-frizz line | Long hair prone to frizz |
| Chroma Absolu Gloss | One rinse-off resurfacing treatment | Color-treated hair |
| Discipline Oléo-Relax | A smoothing line for frizz — not a gloss at all | Thick, coarse, voluminous hair |
Hydra-Illuminating Shampoo
The Hydra-Illuminating Shampoo (250ml, ₱2,170) is a high-foaming, gel-like cleanser that Kérastase says cleanses the scalp and hair surface to reveal a clean shine, then hydrates and tightens the cuticle for an ultra-smooth surface. Per Kérastase's own consumer test of the shampoo, conditioner, and oil used together, the result reads as four days of anti-frizz and four days of glossy hair. Work it through wet hair and rinse thoroughly. The bottle is made from 100% recycled plastic apart from the pump, colorants, and additives, and the shampoo comes in four sizes: an 80ml (₱780) for travel, the 250ml, a 500ml (₱3,700), and a 500ml refill pouch (₱3,150) with the same formula.
Hydra-Illuminating Conditioner
The Hydra-Illuminating Conditioner (250ml, ₱2,680) is the care step: a silky texture that saturates hair with hydration, plumps each layer, and makes detangling effortless, for hair Kérastase describes as voluminous and lustrous. Apply to shampooed, towel-dried hair, massage through lengths and ends, leave for three to five minutes, and rinse.
Anti-Frizz Glaze Milk
The Anti-Frizz Glaze Milk (190ml, ₱2,780) is the alignment step, and the one to keep for humid days. It is an all-in-one smoothing spray with a light, milky texture that detangles, hydrates, smooths, and preps for the blow-dry while preventing frizz and flyaways. It has protection in high-humidity conditions, four days of smooth hair, and heat protection up to 230°C. Spray onto towel-dried hair, distribute through lengths and ends, and blow-dry.
Glaze Drops
The Glaze Drops (45ml, ₱2,450) are the finish: a high-gloss, lightweight oil with wild rose oil, dispensed by a dropper so you use exactly enough for glaze and smoothness without weighing hair down or leaving a greasy residue. Apply a few drops to the lengths and ends of dry or towel-dried hair and leave in. Kérastase's consumer test on the oil alone again reads four days of anti-frizz and glossy hair. If you are choosing between Kérastase oils, our hair oils and serums guide places these next to the rest.
New: The Hair Perfume Mist
The newest piece is the Hair Perfume Mist (30ml, ₱2,000): the Gloss Absolu fragrance on its own, formulated as a long-lasting hair mist in a bag-sized bottle. Kérastase describes the scent as sparkling citrus over rich florals and a warm base — top notes of citrus and lemon, a heart of iris, jasmine, and a rose bouquet, and a base of sandalwood and vanilla — and says it leaves strands softer as well as scented. Spray two or three times onto dry hair from 3–5cm away. It is the citrus-and-floral signature Kérastase describes on every product in the line, which is why the routine smells like one thing rather than five.
How to Use Gloss Absolu: The Four Steps
- Work the Hydra-Illuminating Shampoo through wet hair. Rinse thoroughly.
- Apply the Hydra-Illuminating Conditioner to towel-dried hair, massage through lengths and ends, leave for three to five minutes, and rinse.
- Spray the Anti-Frizz Glaze Milk onto towel-dried hair, distribute through lengths and ends, and blow-dry for a smooth, glossy finish.
- Apply a few Glaze Drops to dry or towel-dried lengths and ends. Leave in. Finish with the Hair Perfume Mist on dry hair.
Who It's For, and Who Should Look Elsewhere
It's for you if your hair is long, tends to frizz, and has lost its shine — that is the brief Kérastase wrote every product in the line for. Look at Discipline instead if your hair is thick and coarse and the frizz is about volume swelling in humidity; Oléo-Relax is built for that. Look at Chroma Absolu instead if your hair is color-treated and what you want is a shine treatment that also protects the color — that is the Chroma Gloss, not this line. And one honest note: the Gloss Absolu shampoo is not among the sulfate-free shampoos at HairMNL — its ingredient list includes sodium laureth sulfate. If sulfate-free is a requirement for you, Chroma Absolu is one Kérastase line that is — so are Discipline Fluidealiste, Curl Manifesto, and Première — and our sulfate-free shampoo guide covers the rest of the shelf. For a hair-type map of every Kérastase shampoo, the complete shampoo guide has it.
Sizes, Refills, and Sets
The shampoo is the only product in four sizes, and the 500ml refill pouch carries the same formula as an eco-conscious refill. The routine also comes as sets: the Anti-Frizz Glaze Duo (₱4,620) pairs the 250ml shampoo with the Glaze Drops, the Anti-Frizz Glaze Trio (₱7,300) adds the conditioner, the Anti-Frizz Glaze Ritual (₱10,080) adds the Glaze Milk for the four core products, and the Shampoo Refill Duo (₱6,850) boxes the 500ml bottle with its pouch.
Gloss Absolu is a line, not a treatment — shampoo, conditioner, glaze milk, glaze drops, and now the mist, all for long hair that frizzes. Use the four steps in order, keep the Glaze Milk in for humid days, and reach for Chroma Absolu Gloss only if the shine you want is for colored hair. Everything here is authentic at HairMNL, in the Gloss Absolu collection.
