If you’ve ever had your hair bleached in the recent years, you’ve most likely heard of the game-changing repair treatment called Olaplex. Widely popular, Olaplex rebuilds the bonds in damaged hair, leading many to laud it as a hair savior. It’s also one of only a hand full of brands where both straight hair and curly-haired people can agree on its benefits. After the successful release of their Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector, the brands first foray into home-based treatments between salon services, it has added the next three essential steps in its damaged repair line. Finally, Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo, Olaplex No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner, and Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother are here at HairMNL. But what can these three really do for your hair?
Created to complement the first three from the line, Olaplex No.4, No.5, and No.6 is a safe-for-daily-use shampoo, conditioner, and styling product for severely sensitized hair. Simply put, if you have damaged hair from bleaching, straightening, and even daily abuse, and have wisely decided to have an Olaplex in-salon treatment, then this shampoo and conditioner will help continue its reparative benefits.
So what’s in it? The product maintains the active ingredient Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate that is exclusive to Olaplex. Along with its patented technology, it helps repair broken disulphide bonds in your hair. Disulphide bonds give your hair its elasticity and strength, and when damaged can make them prone to breakage.
The Olaplex No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo ₱ 2,300 is a highly moisturizing cleanser that leaves hair healthier-looking and shinier. It’s sulfate-free and color-safe which makes it great for color-treated hair. Infused with coconut extracts and glycerine, the gentle shampoo helps to hydrate dry and chemically-processed hair. While the sunflower seed oil already conditions and helps retain moisture in the hair follicle as well as retain color vibrancy. Just for good measure, it also has Apricot kernel oil, rich in vitamins A and E and Omegas 6 and 9.
Protip: Because it is highly moisturizing, some users prefer to lather it on the hair shaft and avoid the scalp. Find the best method that works for you.
The Olaplex No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner ₱ 2,300 is a reparative formula that is also color-safe and helps to eliminate damage and frizz. Packed with antioxidants like acai berry it promotes healthy-looking hair with shine and body. A vitamin boost for your hair, it contains Omega-3, 6 and 9, plus vitamins A, C, E, and B which help to promote scalp health. As for volume, Olaplex No.5’s fermented green tea oil helps to add volume, strength, and shine, while it’s low pH level closes the cuticle helping it to lie flat, eliminating frizz without weighing your hair down.
The Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother, ₱ 2,300 is a styling cream meant to be applied on mid-lengths and ends. A little goes a long way with this product as it provides smoothness and protection of up to 72 hours, although you are certainly welcome to use it daily.
