The Butterfly Haircut consists of short layers at the top that blend with longer layers through the bottom, giving an overall shaggy texture. The wispy face-framing strands seem to mimic a butterfly’s fluttering wings, hence the name.
Although this hair trend emerged around summer 2022, it is said to have been inspired by the “Rachel Cut” – Jennifer Aniston’s famous layered look from her character Rachel in the sitcom Friends.
