Please tell us a bit about your hair history prior to the treatment?
I started noticing the hair on my crown progressively thinning out about 5 years ago. I used to have very thick hair in my teens but now I would look in the mirror and see my scalp through the strands. I don’t have any hair loss though. I attribute this change either to stress or genetics, as I have a family history of thinning hair.
How would you describe your hair?
My hair is thin with rough strands. Also, based on the other anti-thinning products I’ve used before, my scalp is sensitive and reacts quickly to hair products. It either produces more oil and dandruff or, as was the case with another product, develops some redness.
What were your initial impressions of Kérastase's Densifique Cure Homme?
Black and sleek, it certainly was packaged as a premium professional product. It contained 30 individually packed plastic vials shaped like a plastic tube with a conical tip. I believe the intention in individually packing them was, as was said in the instructions, to encourage me to consume the entire vial per day.
How did you apply the product?
This was a bit tricky, as there were precise instructions to follow to get the best results. I watched a video of it online to see how it was applied. After a shower, with semi-damp hair, I would apply the product along the sections of my scalp starting from the top of my head moving downwards. The conical tip was useful for this. After which I would massage the product for a few minutes and run a comb through it. After a while, I got the hang of it and it became part of my daily morning routine.
What were your initial observations about the product?
There wasn’t any wastage. The product was thick but viscous enough to completely empty out of the tube. It didn’t feel oily, more like a soft gel that was easy to spread and that left a cool tingling sensation on my scalp.
Was there enough product?
6ml might not seem much, but there was more than enough for my scalp. It can be tempting to use just a portion of the vial, and save the rest but I really wanted to see the best results so I consumed the whole pack as advised.
On your first week, what did you observe?
Initially there wasn’t any big difference, other than my hair felt less oily and more matte. I did notice that I needed to really massage it into my scalp evenly, as any section lazily left unspread would clump together and stiffen. I actually stopped using my regular styling product and instead used this as a very soft hold gel.
What did you notice after 30 days?
My scalp felt clearer and my crown had a few new hairs growing. Small and thin baby hairs were starting to come out. I guess these were hairs that tried to grow but for some reason couldn’t.
What were your observations after 90 Days?
My hair felt thicker, and the baby hairs were growing so well. My hair felt bodied with the crown starting to look dense. Although my scalp was generally sensitive, I didn’t experience any irritation. My scalp looked fuller in the mirror. It felt like there was a big difference, a good head start for my roots to grow.
There you have it. That's our review. Over all we found the results to be positive. Kérastase's Densifique Cure Homme was easy to apply and, done religiously, was able to encourage more growth and density on the scalp. How about you?
