Scalp Massages Should Be A Part of Your Routine – Find Out Why and How

Not a lot of people think about their scalps as much as they do about their hair. But did you know that without a healthy scalp, you might not have healthy hair? So if you’ve been dreaming of having healthy and beautiful hair, then now you know that the first thing you should do is to pamper your scalp.

But what should you be doing to take care of your scalp? Honestly, there’s so much you can do, but one thing that is worth trying is to massage your scalp! No, you don’t have to be a professional to do it, and yes, you can always do it in the comfort of your home. So, keep reading to discover why you should massage your scalp and how to do it!

Why Should You Massage Your Scalp?

1: It Stimulates Hair Growth

Scalp massages have the ability to improve your hair health and promote hair growth. This type of massage increases blood flow to the scalp, so when done regularly, it can aid in preventing hair fall and regrowing hair!*

2: It Promotes Blood Circulation

Gently massaging your whole scalp would promote circulation to your hair follicles. With this improved blood circulation, healthier strands are most likely to grow out of your scalp now!

3: It Helps You Relax and Destress

When feeling stressed or tense, try giving yourself a scalp massage! Since massages increase the production of serotonin (a chemical that increases happiness), they help you relax your body and mind, which ultimately relieves tension and improves your overall mood. It might even help you sleep better!

4: It Helps Relieve Headaches and Neck Pain

Headaches and neck pain can prevent you from doing your best in whatever you’re doing. So it helps to massage the scalp! Doing so will loosen the muscles in your head and neck. This, in turn, reduces the tension caused by your headaches and neck pain.

How Do You Massage Your Scalp?

Make sure to take your time in massaging the scalp! You can do it during your shower or your post-shower routine – what matters is that, for at least 10 minutes per day, you should perform a scalp massage to see positive results and to relax. You only have to follow these simple steps:

Step 1

Brushing hair

You will need to let your hair down so you can comfortably massage your whole scalp. It helps to brush out your hair to remove any tangles so that your fingers wouldn’t have to get stuck between them as you massage your scalp.

Step 2

Fingertips from the front to the back of your head.

With the right amount of pressure, run your fingertips from the front to the back of your head.

Step 3

Circular motions

From front to back again, use your fingers to make small circular motions. Make sure to work your way to the back of your scalp while using the same level of pressure!

Step 4

Repeat Steps 2 and 3, but this time starting from the back of your head to the front!

Step 5

Sides of the scalp

We’re not leaving the sides of the scalp behind, so don’t forget to repeat Steps 2 to 3 on the sides.
