L’Oréal Professionnel Ash Tones
July 16, 2019Ash colors and balayage techniques remain at the top of the trends for this year and we couldn’t resist getting in on it. Together with L’Oréal Professionnel, we’ve developed some stunning looks you’re sure to love. We’ll give you a tour around these versatile styles you can now own.
Smokey Ash/ Light Ash Balayage
Try the Light Ash Balayage in this signature smokey color style. A silver grey balayage is dashed with purple undertones tones (or another tone of your choice) all hand painted in sections creating a soft muted gradation between shades. It's great for those in the mood to play with color.
What to expect?
You're looking at 5-6 hours (possibly longer depending on the color and state of your hair) in the salon, so prepare your mind, body and entertainment. For this look we also did 4 rounds of pre-lightening with L'Oréal Smart Bond to keep hair protected from bleach. We also apply several rounds of bleach close to the scalp, before adding ash dyes and the accent color.
Medium Ash Balayage
Our Medium Ash Balayage is hands down a stunner. Hand-painted by our senior stylist, it creates a seamless transition between brown hair color. We love this look because it’s meant to last and grow as your hair grows. Try the look with side sweeping bangs to frame your face as the color gradation creates more depth and dimension.
What to expect?
Expect to be in the salon for 4-5 hours depending on your hair’s color and quality. We will apply 2 rounds of pre-lighting with L'Oréal Smart Bond to help protect it from several rounds of bleach (depending on your hair color). Brown tone is then applied in sections close to the crown creating the gorgeous soft gradation.
Ash Highlights
Want big impact but not interested to deviate from your natural hair color? Then these ash highlights are for you. Expertly applied, it creates serious depth and definition . Placed strategically in sections, this style adds dimension to your hair, offering the appearance of more volume and detail.
What to expect?
Expect to be in the salon or 4-5 hours depending on the color and quality of your hair. We will apply 2 rounds of pre-lighting with L'Oréal Smart Bond to help protect sections to be bleached. Bleaching may take a few rounds. A brown base is also applied to allow for the highlighted sections to be visible.

It’s one thing to have the look, another thing altogether to own it. We’ve got you covered. Here are some quick top tips to make the look stay luscious for longer:
- Do not wash your hair until 48 hours after the procedure.
- Use a sulfate-free shampoo to extend the life of your new color.
- Use the L'Oréal Serie Expert Silver Shampoo or Conditioner once a week, or as often as desired to keep hair from turning brassy. Find out why you need a purple shampoo here.
- Avoid heat styling, sun exposure, and chemicals that may cause damage to your hair.
